My name is Elizabeth Catanese, but my friends call me E. I am a writer and visual artist with a mission to celebrate young people, whoever they are! You are unique and have so much to offer to the world.

I went to Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and studied Art History and Creative Writing. Then, I went to the Bread Loaf School of English, which is a place in Vermont where you can learn even more about literature after college. Fun fact: When I tell some people I went to Bread Loaf, they sometimes think it is a cooking school focused on bread baking!

In addition to being an author and artist, I am now a college professor at Community College of Philadelphia, where I help students learn more about reading and writing. I’m also a single mom by choice of donor-conceived twins named Dylan and Escher. Dylan is named after the poet Dylan Thomas, and Escher is named after the artist M.C. Escher!

My next book project is about a donor-conceived kid, since there aren’t too many main characters who are donor-conceived in middle grade books yet! One great book that has donor-conceived characters is Hazel’s Theory of Evolution by Lisa Jenn Bigelow! Check it out!
